Report:
At 9 am, 9 hikers took to the trail, starting at the Rio Grande Nature Center. With a variation of the published hike, we headed into the Bosque. The weather was perfect, sunny with little wind. Reaching a deck with a river view after passing under Central Avenue, we decided to stop for a snack/lunch. After lunch we intersected the paved shuttle route (former railbed) and continued south to the ponds. Daffodils and Grape Hyacinths were a lovely sight as well as the trees in full bloom. We spotted numerous ducks, geese, and coots, old and young. We then started the return hike. A highlight on the return trip was a dog wearing sunglasses! We completed the hike by walking the last 1/2 mile on the bike path. Thank you, Joe for driving. And thank you hikers for being such a social and friendly bunch. The total distance was 8.5 miles.
