Seven of us braved the heat to hike Tree Spring Trail to Fossil Garden. It was shady most of the way and pleasant during the uphill climb. We didn’t see many flowers until we got on the South Crest portion – nodding onions, Indian paintbrush, dusky penstemon, and harebells. The highlight of the hike was the fossils. We spread out in the fossil area and found many, such as crinoids, brachiopods, corals, and some that looked like fish. We ate lunch on the crest at Pino Canyon Overlook and experienced warm temps as we hiked back down.
